The U.S. Virgin Islands was once a landing spot to some of the most fearsome pirates in history, including Blackbeard, William the Kid, Anne Bonny, and Sir Francis Drake. These Pirates plundered galleon Leaders, who were loading gold from mines in Mexico, and shipping the treasure back to Europe. Conversely, during this period, across the globe, Ms. Cheng in China built the largest pirate fleet that the World has ever seen, and one which would eventually become integrated into that Nation’s domestic naval fleet. Additionally, there is evidence of Caribbean Pirates and Asiatic pirates interacting, on the Island of Madagascar during the 1700’s, and trading with each other.
Today, the U.S. Virgin Islands is a U.S. territory, which has an effusive and diverse population of close to two hundred thousand. Moreover, it features: a world renown University, the second largest oil refinery in the World, the Cruzan Rum distillery, one of the larger financial districts in the Caribbean, ancient Cathedrals, the finest retailers of exclusive time pieces in the World, a burgeoning International
Airport, a cacophony of world class cuisine restaurants, pre-eminent luxury branded resorts and stores, the most modern Cruise Ship port in the Western hemisphere, and some of the best coral reefs on Earth.
